One of my projects that was done for my Creative Processes class last semester.

Here is another clip that presents a few features that I also love that are going to come out for CS5. It’s great to see these huge improvements! I still remember when I started to use Photoshop 7.0 and holy smokes was it ever a difference to todays Photoshop.

Here is my vinyl that is located in the cafeteria above the coffee necessities.

I’ve gained a source of inspiration by Michalangelo’s work “The Creation of Adam”, thus depicting a scene where god is passing a coffee towards Adam. After my observation at Emily Carr, I tried to look for a similar trait that almost everyone possessed…and this came to conclude the almighty coffee cup. Almost everywhere I looked there was a coffee cup either in someone’s hand or on top of a table. I found this to be quite humorous so I picked at it.

Unfortunately, my previous vinyl was to be placed upon the front doors of Emily Carr (North Building) written in bold letters “Hipsters Enter Here” and then with a little description of what a hipster is. I thought I was ingenious but sadly it was against the rules to put any type of artwork upon the front doors. Shame.

Basically what I tried to achieve with my vinyl is that Art + History + Coffee = mind of a typical art student : P.

My main influence towards this project is “The Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” and turn it around to be “The Artist’s Guide to the Galaxy”. So instead of the concepts that remain within Douglas Adam’s novel is to gain a few idea’s and incorporate it with art. For example, “42 is the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything”.

I’ve also taken photo’s of myself in a dream-like state and overlayed Hubble Space photo’s on top to gain a spacey-galactic feel. All in all, I think it’s turned out to be how I wanted it to be…now I hope I can get this printing process right!

I cannot wait until this comes out. This will save SO many people SO much time (including mine).

Here’s one of the pieces I complied within my portfolio to apply in 2nd year design (which I made it to :- )!!) which was a collaboration with friend. I edited the photo by adding all the effects and enhancements in Photoshop CS2…yes I kept using that program even though CS4 was out (don’t ask why).

In part of my cgia class we were required to work with three different programs…photoshop, illustrator and indesign; clearly I enjoy working in photoshop the most.

Project #3.

I’ve come to conclusion of creating an environmental approach to the project. I’ve always had a heart for the planet and it’s resources it provides, but due to litter and a lot of other shit we pollute this world with has made me realize how important it is to our future race to survive and not deal with possible complications. (it maybe already late for that ; ) )

The sight of litter that was left after the olympics was gross. It was everywhere. But thankfully we had plenty volunteers clean up after the whole party. Still today I see people with highlighted vests walking down the allies with a pick in one hand and a garbage bag in the other. I still play my part to ALWAYS put my garbage in the garbage :- ). Do you?

With the help of a friend, I was able to create an interesting approach to the poster. The main background features a water-drop that resembles the earths water source which is basically a human necessity. The deer with tree branches as its antlers represents the environment the creatures live in, which also suffers from our pollution we create from not recycling properly as well.

The logo located at the bottom right corner is not related to any sort of corp. that I know of, nor does it represent them. I wanted to created a “link” sort of logo that would relate and work with my poster.

I’ve also researched many sites that gave given me a better insight of the environment and how we’re causing such distress upon it and how to possibly help eliminate this problem. /link

p.s. to all of my classmates, I’m deeeeply saddened that I could not present this project to you today. :’ (

A digital installation named “When the Gods Came Down to Earth” by the artist Srinivas Krishna was placed upon the entrance of the Vancouver Public Library Atrium. The presentation of the installation dominated its approach of interacting with the audience in a fantastical sort of way. The projections of the “gods” recreated an imagery which possessed a classical feel of the indian culture. “Through the size and beauty of the images, audiences become enraptured, captivated by the rhythmic movements of these famous figures from thousands of years in the past.”

I became quite intrigued by the display of colour and motion by the projection. Not only was I mesmorized by the figurative representation of the “indian gods” but their way of how it felt as if they were watching us down on earth. I interpreted the piece to present an underlying story of how many images of gods are worshipped by millions which causes it to remain “sacred”.

What makes the piece work, is it’s way of presenting something fictional into the real world. I enjoy how we could think of these “high godly characters” that have been created centuries ago and could now be living amoung us in present day. I believe that using “god-like” characters displays more of an effect than if the artist was to use something besides a spiritual presense; just the whole fairy-like atmosphere set the tone for my experience.
